A Northern Territory-based construction company has won a contract at Darwin Port for civil construction works at its East Arm Wharf.

Rusca Bros Service, will carry out civil work as part of the construction of the Refrigerated Container Park and the Strategic Hardstand Development, announced with the release of the Port Development Plan in May 2016.

Darwin Port Chief Executive Terry O’Connor said, “It was a really competitive process and so pleasing to see such high quality interest from local territory contractors.

“Darwin Port is focused on continuing to invest in the local economy – we want to ensure we have a positive influence on jobs.

“We’re keen to just get on with the work to stay genuine in our commitment to develop port infrastructure to support our current and emerging industry sectors.”

Construction is expected to commence in mid-August 2016, with the completed Refrigerated Container Park in full operation in December 2016.

The facility will significantly increase refrigerated container capability at East Arm Wharf to better service Northern Australia’s horticulture, aquaculture and agricultural industries, exporting into South East Asia.
