An Australian airport has been named Australasia’s Leading Airport at the 23rd World Travel Awards 2016 in Vietnam.
Brisbane Airport received the award after a year-long online voting process which saw qualified executives working within travel and tourism, and consumer travel buyers cast their votes.
The World Travel Awards were established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel tourism and hospitality industry, and are recognised globally.
Brisbane Airport Corporation CEO and Managing Director, Julieanne Alroe, said, “Australasia has many outstanding airports within the region, so we are humbled to again be recognised as one of the best in a very competitive field.
“The honour is even sweeter in that it’s an award that has been bestowed on us through votes from global travellers.
“To know that travellers enjoy the facilities and services provided at Brisbane Airport is a credit to the front line staff at our terminals and to every person working on site, be they employed by airlines, contracted, government agencies or volunteers.”
In 2016, Brisbane Airport Corporation has also been named Best Airport (Australia/Pacific) in the 2016 Skytrax World Airport Awards, while being the top rated Australian airport for quality of service for the 12th year in a row by the Australian Competition and Consumer Association (ACCC).
