The Victorian Government has released the Victorian Infrastructure Plan in response to Infrastructure Victoria’s 30-year infrastructure strategy delivered to the Victorian Parliament in December 2016.
Infrastructure Victoria’s strategy made 137 recommendations to respond to our infrastructure challenges and opportunities over the short, medium and long term.
The Victorian Infrastructure Plan indicates that Government has accepted 134 of the recommendations in full, in part or in principle. The plan also outlines the infrastructure actions the Government intends to take as a priority over the next five years.
The Victorian Government has taken an approach that recognises the changing and complex risk environment. The plan considers aspects important to strengthening infrastructure resilience, including maintenance and minor works through to new policy directions and new technologies.
Infrastructure Victoria has commented on the report saying they are pleased the Victorian Government has considered all of the recommendations made in their strategy.
Under the Infrastructure Victoria Act 2015, Infrastructure Victoria is required within its annual report to include an assessment of the Government’s specified priorities and progress in meeting Victoria’s infrastructure needs.
The annual report will be tabled in Parliament in late 2017.
