More than $1 million in works will be completed to upgrade tracks and bridges on the Echuca to Deniliquin freight line in Victoria.

The package of works will include replacing the bridge deck in Moama and maintenance work on other bridges along the line.

Crews will also add ballast, and complete track welding and repairs to sections of the track.

At the same time, works are continuing on the $440 million Murray Basin Rail Project in the state’s north west.

Freight trains returned to the Mildura line in early March 2018 and the next stage of the Murray Basin Rail Project will upgrade the Sea Lake and Manangatang lines.

Victorian Minister for Public Transport, Jacinta Allan, said, “These works are important for the ongoing upkeep of the line and to ensure the freight operators continue to have a safe, reliable pathway through the state’s north.”

Works are expected to be complete by mid-March 2018.
