The concept design for the new bus interchange at Ballarat Station in Victoria has been released.

The new interchange will bring local buses closer to the station, making it easier for passengers to access the station precinct, and making it safer to change between transport services.

The concept design includes 12 new bus bays, pedestrian crossings for safer access between the car park and station entrance, and shelter for improved weather protection.

The Victorian Government transport program for Ballarat includes $32 million for the Ballarat Station Precinct Redevelopment, new bus shelters across Ballarat and planning to upgrade Wendouree Station.

Ballarat passengers will also benefit from the $557 million Ballarat Line Upgrade, which will deliver more frequent and reliable services for Ballarat and Melbourne’s growing west.

Minister for Public Transport, Jacinta Allan, said, “Ballarat is one of the fastest growing areas in Victoria, with more people relying on our regional transport services than ever before.

“We’re giving local buses a permanent home, reducing the impact of frequent bus services on local roads and residents.”
