The Northern Territory Government has awarded the first three tenders to build 10 bush homes under itss record $1.1 billion remote housing program.

The successful tenderers are:

  • SH Build for the construction of four new homes in Gunbalanya ($1.87 million)
  • GEBIE Civil and Construction for the construction of three new homes in Angurugu ($1.75 million)
  • WTD Constructions for the construction of three new homes in Maningrida ($1.45 million)

Minister for Housing and Community Development, Gerry McCarthy, said the tenders are worth a combined $5.07 million, and are a significant milestone for the program.

“We are delivering on our election commitment and our promise to invest in the bush, reduce overcrowding, create local jobs and return decision making to local people,” Mr McCarthy said.

“Since coming to government, we have built or improved more than 1000 homes in remote communities in collaboration with the Federal Government.”

HomeBuild NT is a component of the Northern Territory Government’s remote housing program Our Community. Our Future. Our Homes. This program focuses on new builds through local decision making.

Work in all three communities is expected to begin in June 2018.
