The new Sydney Metro train line and Skytrain bridge will soon be tested over Windsor Road and towards the new Kellyville Station, with the project on track to open in the first half of 2019.
Sydney Metro will first test the trains at 60km/h on the Skytrain, before increasing to speeds of to up to 100km/h. The testing will then move to the new twin railway tunnels between Bella Vista and Epping.
NSW Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Andrew Constance, said the milestone shows that Sydney Metro is becoming a reality.
“We’re testing our new generation trains and finishing our stations to deliver a world class mass transit system to Sydney,” Mr Constance said.
After its launch in Sydney’s north west in 2019, metro rail will extend into the CBD and beyond to Bankstown. By 2024, a 66km metro rail system with 31 stations will service the city.
