Caterpillar to launch new equipment in global unveiling

Global equipment company, Caterpillar, are launching a new range of next generation equipment in Sydney with features never before seen in this type of machine. The launch coincides with a showcase of recently released Caterpillar models and technology that is impacting the way earthmoving machines are used.

The launch is still shrouded in mystery as not many details have been released about the new models. The equipment is being launched exclusively at the National Construction Equipment Convention (NCEC), a three day multi-disciplinary event for the civil construction and infrastructure sector running from 15-17 November at Sydney Showground.

This product launch will be the first time these new machines will be seen by the public anywhere in the world. In addition to this new range, the brand will also be showcasing other recently released models and technology.

Attendees will be able to observe and even trial these machines in action and see how new advancements in equipment and technology in the civil construction sector can help them reduce costs and improve efficiencies in their own operations.

The event is essential for anyone working in civil contracting (Tier 1, 2 and 3), engineering, demolition or earthmoving, local or state government, or quarrying. It features a major exhibition and conference with a speaker lineup discussing the most pressing issues in civil construction and equipment capabilities.

The new Caterpillar models that will be on display at NCEC and available to see up close in the demonstration pit include:

Next Generation Excavator 323

The Cat® 323 excavator was launched in April and has the speed, efficiency and power needed for heavy-duty applications requiring maximum productivity. The Cat 323 comes with built-in Cat GRADE including 2D, Grade Assist, and Payload as standard equipment right from the factory — it improves operator efficiency by up to 45 per cent.

This is a low-cost-per-unit-of-production excavator built for heavy-duty applications and features a new cab, longer maintenance intervals, reduced fuel consumption of up to 20 per cent and lower maintenance costs by up to 15 per cent.

Next Generation Excavator 336

NCEC will be the first public viewing of Caterpillar’s larger model excavator, the Cat® 336 excavator, which expands on the 323 model, providing next generation productivity and operator efficiency on a larger scale.

The Cat® 336 excavator can be used in a variety of applications as it has simple-to-use technologies like Cat GRADE with 2D, Grade Assist, and Payload, and like the 323, can boost operator efficiencies up to 45 per cent.

Wheel Loader 950GC

The 950GC takes an almost opposite viewpoint to next generation excavators in that it offers budget conscious customers a lower cost option to Caterpillar’s 950M.

The 950GC is a workhorse machine that is well-suited to stockpiling, load-and-carry work/hopper charging in concrete and asphalt batch plants, sand and gravel operations, wood chip handling, dairy feedlots, coal handling operations, storage yards, and on construction projects for job-site preparation, backfilling and general cleanup. The 950GC is also a choice for governmental markets, offering agencies a well-designed, durable machine that fits the budget.

Asphalt Paver AP300F

The AP300F is a small to mid-sized paver that focuses on performance and versatility, weighing eight tonnes with a paving range from 700mm to 4m. It features a 73.8 Hp Cat® C3.3B and operator performance is aided by a new console design with interactive LCD display and million cycle switches. This paver can be used on urban and rural streets, lane additions, sub-divisions, overlays, car parks, pathways, driveways, general repair, and other small to medium-sized job sites.

Caterpillar’s global product launch will be held on its stand (stand K20) at 9:30am Thursday 15 November at the National Construction Equipment Convention (NCEC) Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park. For more information on the event or to register, visit ncecaustralia.com.au.
