Infrastructure industry to face skill shortages

Infrastructure Australia (IA) has selected another new Board member following the appointment of Peter Harris AO and Samantha Hogg on 1 March 2019.

The organisation welcomed Rod Hook to its Board on 1 April 2019.

Mr Hook brings to the Board considerable experience in public sector management and governance, infrastructure, transport, planning and the environment.

Most recently he was Chief Executive of the South Australian Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure, and previously served as South Australia’s Commissioner of Highways as the Rail Commissioner and the Coordinator-General.

Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development, Michael McCormack, has praised the appointment, saying Mr Hook brings a wealth of infrastructure knowledge and experience to the Board.

“IA Board members require knowledge and experience relevant to the functions of IA, as well as a mix of experience in industry, private or public sectors and local government. Mr Hook certainly fits the bill and I welcome him to the role,” Mr McCormack said.

Infrastructure Australia (IA) is an independent statutory body that provides advice on Australia’s infrastructure priorities and policy reforms. It also assists governments in their infrastructure investment decision-making.

The IA Board consists of twelve members, including a Chair.
