Hurlstone Park safety gate design concept

Sydney Metro has shortlisted three companies to supply new technology to make ten Sydney Metro stations on the Bankstown line fully accessible.

The upgrade project will involve supplying state-of-the-art customer access technology for stations between Marrickville and Bankstown.

The technology, including mechanical gap fillers and platform screen doors, means the stations will be fully accessible when metro rail services start in 2024.

All Sydney Metro stations will have platform screen doors that keep people and objects like prams away from the tracks, and also allow trains to get in and out of stations much faster. All platforms will be level with the new metro trains – which means no more step-up into the train.

The three shortlisted companies are:

  • Gilgen Door Systems AG
  • Hyundai Movex
  • Kyosan Electric Manufacturing

The next step of the procurement process will be to test the technology put forward by the three companies for Australian conditions.
