V/Line’s new train storage facility is now open at Wyndham Vale stabling yard, on the Geelong line.

The storage facility underwent a ten-day schedule of final testing and commissioning works, which included extensive driver training to help drivers familiarise themselves with the new infrastructure.

Built just north of Wyndham Vale Station, the stabling yard will initially house up to six V/Locity trains at any one time, with buildings constructed for staff amenities, security and utilities.

With future network improvements in the pipeline, the facility has also been designed to cater for an expansion if required.

Several sustainable initiatives were also implemented during construction, including the use of recycled plastic sleepers, the use of a recycled plastic asphalt mix and the use of recycled glass sand.

V/Line and the Victorian Department of Transport will now take over the operation of the yard.
