Works are set to begin as part of an upgrade to more than 2km of Frederick Road between Old Port Road and West Lakes Boulevard, as part of a $4.2 million road upgrade project in Adelaides western and southern suburbs.
In total 2.38km of Frederick Road will be resurfaced through the $1.8 million project, with another $1.1 million to be spent upgrading Kilkenny Road.
A 1.4km section of Kilkenny Road will be resurfaced between Torrens and Port roads.
In the south, another $1.3 million is being invested to resurface approximately 2km of Brighton Road between Diagonal Road and Wilton Avenue.
Transport and Infrastructure Minister Stephen Mullighan said, “We have significantly increased our investment in road maintenance and safety projects, with an extra $110 million, and with more than half a billion dollars to spend, we are upgrading more roads more often.”
“We know that the quality of our roads can make a big difference to the people who use them every day, whether it’s to commute, for the school run, to transport goods and freight, or simply to head out on the weekend.
“These arterial roads projects complement the multi-billion dollar investment we’re making on major transport infrastructure projects across the State, including the North South Corridor projects which will draw through traffic from adjacent corridors.”
The State Government is investing more than half-a-billion dollars on road maintenance and safety over four years including an additional $110 million 2015-16 State Budget investment.
The $110 million investment will deliver more than 185 critical road projects supporting more than 300 jobs.
