Dangerous road congestion on the way to and from the Bruce Highway to Bribie Island in Queensland will soon be a problem of the past, with the announcement of a $20 million upgrade to Bribie Island Road.
Bribie Island Road is the region’s primary connection to the Bruce Highway, which received $3.3 billion in new investment in the Federal Budget and is a key priority.
The upgrade will enhance traffic flow and include upgrades to key intersections along the commuter stretch to ensure a smoother and safer drive to and from home.
It will also include traffic signaling and pavement widening at priority pinch points.
The government has committed to the upgrade after listening to the concerns of the community, which wants faster, safer travel times as traffic on the road increases.
The upgrade will create more jobs for residents in Longman and surrounding areas to continue the record jobs growth Australia is enjoying.
The upgrade complements the Federal Government’s $10 billion commitment to the Bruce Highway Upgrade Program, including the additional $3.3 billion announced in the 2018–19 Budget.
The Bruce Highway Upgrade Program also includes $1.42 billion committed to upgrade the Pine River to Caloundra corridor, which intersects with Bribie Island Road and is the main road to Brisbane.
