The Australian Airports Association (AAA) has launched a new network for young professionals in the airport industry that will bring together staff from airports across the country to provide mentoring and support for those building their careers in aviation.

AAA Chief Executive Officer, Caroline Wilkie, said the network was an exciting opportunity to celebrate the many career paths available to young people working in the industry.

“Aviation is such a dynamic and exciting industry, with so many options for building a successful, long-term career at Australia’s airports,” Ms Wilkie said.

“We are delighted to create a network that will help young professionals consider the pathways available to them and connect with more people working in the industry.”

Gold Coast Airport Airside Operations Supervisor, Jared Feehely, will be the inaugural chair of the network.

Mr Feehley commenced his aviation career in Gladstone in 2011, and has since held roles at a number of Australian airports.

“I’m very excited to be part of the network from the very beginning, particularly given the many opportunities airports have offered me over the course of my career,” Mr Feehely said.

“The network will provide a fantastic forum to discuss development pathways at Australian airports.

“I look forward to speaking with more of my peers as the network grows.”

Staff from regional, remote and capital city airports will be invited to join the network in the near future, with its events calendar to be released in 2019.
