Tram services have begun on Adelaide’s newly extended tram tracks, after major works for the City Tram Extension Project were completed in early October 2018.
The project has extended the tram line by 1km along North Terrace, from King William Street to East Terrace, and 350m north along King William Road to the Festival Plaza Precinct.
The extension features four new stops, one on King William Road servicing the Festival Plaza, and three new stops along North Terrace servicing the museum and library precinct, universities and the Old Royal Adelaide Hospital Site.
Additionally, the previous West Terrace Tram Stop has been renamed Royal Adelaide Hospital.
This extension will provide frequent services between the East End and the new Royal Adelaide Hospital, SAHMRI, Adelaide Railway Station, Adelaide Convention Centre and the new Adelaide Festival Plaza.
Some finishing works are required and will be conducted to minimise disruption to commuters where possible.
