An interim CEO has been appointed to the Australian Logistics Council (ALD) board following the resignation of Michael Kilgariff as Managing Director, which will take effect on 27 July 2018.

Lachlan Benson will be responsible for managing ALC’s policy, advocacy and industry event activities for the period up until the recruitment of a permanent CEO. He will provide a full transition to the new permanent CEO upon appointment.

Lachlan Benson is currently Managing Director of Blue Arcadia, a consultancy specialising in transport and logistics issues and sits as a Non Executive Director on a number of industry related boards.

He is well known to many in Australia’s freight logistics industry, having developed a deep understanding of the issues influencing supply chain efficiency and safety over almost five years as Executive General Manager of the Industry Relations and Logistics Division at the Sydney Ports Corporation.

This built on extensive experience in supply chain management issues gained in other senior roles, including as Manager – Industry Relations at AWB Limited, as a Senior Policy Officer with the NSW Department of Transport and as Manager of the Transport Logistics & Infrastructure Group at Informa Australia.

Mr Benson will assume full responsibility as interim CEO upon Michael Kilgariff’s departure on Friday 27 July 2018.

The board of ALC acknowledges the contribution of Mr Kilgariff in building ALC’s capacity as an industry leader and an effective advocate for securing policy reforms that are in the interests of the Australian economy and the industry.
