Community and business leaders are encouraged to apply for the chance to shape their communities, with positions available to join the Victorian Government’s Metropolitan Partnerships.

Victorian Minister for Suburban Development, Marlene Kairouz, said that the nine vacancies across the partnerships provided a unique opportunity to influence the development and delivery of key services and infrastructure.

“Each of our six regions is unique – by becoming a member of the Metropolitan Partnerships, there is an incredible opportunity to help shape the delivery of key services and infrastructure that our communities need,” Ms Kairouz said.

Vacancies include four in the Southern Region, two in the Northern Region, two in the Inner South-east Region and one in the Western Region, with applications closing on 28 February.

Many initiatives have been put into action by the Labor Government based on recommendations received through the partnerships, including:

  • Landmark investments in world-class hospitals and health facilities, including a new $1.5 billion Footscray Hospital due to open in 2025
  • Funded three-year old kinder introduced in the Victorian Budget 2019/20 under the most significant reforms in early childhood education seen in the state
  • The equivalent of 170 Royal Botanic Gardens in new parkland, walking trails, bike trails, pocket parks and dog parks to be created under a $154 million program to boost relaxation and exercise options in the suburbs

The partnerships welcome diverse voices and young people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with a disability, Aboriginal people and LGBTIQ community members.

The term of appointment for new members will run until 31 March 2021.

For further information, visit the Get on Board website or go to Metropolitan Partnership Vacancies to apply.
