Twelve new apprentices have joined Endeavour Energy as it gears up to service Greater Western Sydney and the Illawarra’s growing population thanks to major infrastructure projects in the area.
Endeavour Energy’s Chief Executive Officer, Guy Chalkley, said, “There’s never been a more exciting time to join our industry and we’re thrilled to welcome our new recruits.
“With Greater Western Sydney’s population projected to reach three million people in the next 15 years, Endeavour Energy is powering the biggest coordinated land release in NSW’s history.
“We are on the doorstep of Australia’s largest infrastructure projects, the Western Sydney Aerotropolis and Western Sydney International Airport, set to become a thriving economic centre.
“This opens the door to an exciting and rewarding career for the next generation of power workers to deliver the grid of the future and enable customers to use energy in smarter and cleaner ways.”
Mr Chalkley said the 12 apprentices were selected from a highly competitive pool of over 600 applicants.
“It’s the talent and ambition of our people that drives our success, and we are confident we have chosen the very best candidates following a rigorous assessment process,” Mr Chalkley said.
“They include a diverse mix including four women, people from an Indigenous background, school leavers and qualified tradespeople looking for an exciting career change.
“This helps us build an inclusive workforce that reflects the rich diversity of our customers and communities.”
Mr Chalkley said the new apprentices were starting their training at Endeavour Energy’s purpose-built Hoxton Park Technical Training Centre, one of the most modern electrical training facilities in NSW.
“Central to their training will be learning how to keep themselves, their workmates and the community safe,” Mr Chalkley said.
“Subject to meeting strict performance criteria, our new apprentices will graduate after four years with a nationally recognised Electrotechnology Electrician qualification, opening their way to exciting job opportunities at Endeavour Energy.”
