This November, hundreds of bridge practitioners, material scientists and structural engineers from across Australia and New Zealand will gather for the first time in more than five years for the 11th Austroads Bridge Conference 2022.
Running in Adelaide from 15- 18 November, the Austroads Bridge Conference will bring together industry experts, a line-up of stellar international and national keynote speakers and vibrant social functions.
The Bridge Conference will be an invaluable opportunity to share knowledge on a variety of subjects, including bridge analysis, design and assessment, technology, asset management, sustainability, and life cycle cost. The event, including four days of keynote speakers, sessions, Q&A panels, and exhibitions has not been held since 2017 as a result of delays during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Geoff Allan, Austroads Chief Executive, said the response to the conference thus far is a testament to the bridge engineering industry.

More than 120 international and national speakers are set to participate, and the program will include over 160 technical paper presentations.
Dr Eva Lantsoght, full professor at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador, and tenured assistant professor at Technische Universiteit Delft, Netherlands will be presenting a keynote address, bringing her years of academic and industry experience in structural and bridge engineering to Australia. Her field of research includes the design and analysis of concrete structures and analysis of existing bridges.
Marcus Sanchez, Director, European Bridges and Civil Structures Skill Leader at Arup, will also deliver a keynote speech, contributing his valuable expertise in conceptual design, optimisation and value engineering of long span concrete and steel structures with special focus on the construction stages.
Further keynote speakers for this event will include John Hilton, Global Capability Leader for Bridges at Aurecon, who is scheduled to speak on sustainable bridges, noting the new developments and opportunities in the field, Prof. Scott Smith, Professor of Structural Engineering at the University of Adelaide, Christian Christodoulou, Chief Engineer at Transport for New South Wales and Campbell Middleton, the Laing O’Rourke Professor of Construction Engineering at the University of Cambridge.
