The Infrastructure Association of Queensland Inc (IAQ) is trying something new – an Assembly, bringing people together for a common purpose; to connect industry and government to collaborate, facilitate and enable a sustainable thriving infrastructure industry in Queensland.

2021 IAQ Infrastructure Assembly – working together for a better future will be held on 8-9 September with a lineup of acclaimed speakers tackling the biggest issues facing the sector  and debating the optimal solutions. The Assembly will be a milestone event for showcasing transformative ideas.

With a program carefully curated to accommodate the potential impacts of the current pandemic, this hybrid conference will be more interactive than ever.

Over an immersive two days, you will hear from internationally renowned experts, government decision makers, researchers and practitioners who will share their innovations and experiences, and provide opportunities for you to share your ideas and help shape the future.

“The 2021 Infrastructure Assembly is our chance to brainstorm among the best minds in the business and set the agenda for what is shaping up to be the most exciting period in Queensland’s history,” Murray Kretschmer, Chief Operating Officer, Arup, Australasia, said.

To ensure everyone outside of South East Queensland can join the thought-provoking sessions, IAQ is offering discounted pricing for anyone outside a 200km radius of Brisbane.

The fascinating mix of debates, keynotes and audience participation will help map a pathway and a vision for the post-pandemic future. With the 2032 Olympics now confirmed for South East Queensland, there is an ideal framework from which to launch a decade-long program of projects that will also leave a profound legacy to successfully manage the demands of the forecast massive population growth coming to the south-east corner of the state.

Some of the headline speakers include:

  • Dr Steven Miles, Queensland Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning
  • Martin O’Malley, 61st Governor of Maryland and former Mayor of Baltimore, USA
  • Simon Wright OBE, Independent Consultant and former Head of Infrastructure and Legacy Delivery, London Olympics Delivery Authority
  • Ross Garnaut, Professor of Economics at University of Melbourne
  • Romilly Madew, CEO, Infrastructure Australia
  • Neil Scales, Director-General, Chief Executive Officer and Chair, Department of Transport and Main Roads, Queensland
  • Maia Schweizer, CEO, CleanCo Queensland Limited
  • Rebecca Pickering, Interim Chief Executive Inland Rail, ARTC
  • Malcolm Smith, Cities Leader, Arup, Australasia
  • Amelia Burnett, Director, Clementine Consulting

The major sponsor is the Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning, Queensland Government, working with industry as they develop the vitally important State Infrastructure Strategy.

With change comes enormous opportunity and the industry has the chance to come together and be extraordinary – come and join the Assembly. Registration closes 27 August 2021.
