Australia’s civil construction and infrastructure sector continues to experience sustained growth, driven by ongoing public and private investment in major transport, utilities and development projects.
As project size and complexity increase, ongoing industry challenges become more pronounced. The 2025 Kennards Hire Construction Confidence Check found that 36 per cent of leaders cite time lost managing multiple suppliers and 35 per cent report a lack of specialist project expertise as key barriers to project delivery.
To help address these industry challenges, Kennards Hire has significantly expanded its earthmoving and compaction offering, strengthening its ability to support large-scale civil and infrastructure projects. This expansion includes the establishment of a dedicated Earthmoving & Compaction business unit, bringing together a strong fleet, know-how and project support.
This increased capability is helping streamline delivery for Tier 1 contractors and major infrastructure projects by reducing delays associated with sourcing equipment from multiple suppliers, improving confidence in equipment availability and performance across extended project timelines.
Leading the division is General Manager, Earthmoving & Compaction, Craig McMahon, who said the move is designed to simplify delivery for customers managing increasingly complex builds.
“Major infrastructure projects are becoming more complex, often spanning multiple sites and requiring consistent performance over long timeframes,” McMahon said.
“What we’re focused on is removing the friction – giving customers access to the right equipment, backed by the right expertise, at the scale they need to keep projects moving.”
The recent acquisition of Solution Plant Hire has accelerated this expansion, strengthening both fleet depth and specialist expertise and enhancing Kennards Hire’s ability to support across more stages of large, complex and multi-site projects.
With more than 200 pieces of earthmoving and compaction equipment recently added to the fleet, increasing product depth and range, Kennards Hire is now supporting a broader scope of works, from bulk earthworks through to precision compaction and finishing.
The fleet includes excavators, rollers, loaders, water trucks and a wide range of specialised attachments, enabling customers to access the right equipment at each stage of a project while scaling up quickly as requirements evolve.
“It’s not just about having more equipment – it’s about having the capability behind it,” McMahon said. “We’re working closely with customers to align fleet deployment to project requirements, ensuring they have the right support from site preparation through to final compaction.”
