Community consultation on the Parkes bypass in New South Wales is wrapping up with feedback submissions closing on 9 August.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development, Michael McCormack, said that the community consultation had been underway since 1 July.
“The bypass will deliver huge benefits for the community, including travel time savings, improved amenity and increased safety and access.”
The project will involve building a 10.5km bypass of the Newell Highway on the western outskirts of Parkes, removing up to 1200 trucks a day from local streets.
NSW Minister for Regional Transport and Roads, Paul Toole, said Transport for NSW had met with more than 600 people during the submission period.
“This feedback from the community, road users, and other interested parties is an important step in developing the final design of the Parkes bypass.
“This is a project that promises to reduce travel time up to 10 minutes, benefitting motorists and truckies and boosting freight efficiency.”
All submissions will be addressed in a submissions report which will be used to guide the final project design.
