The National electronic Tolling and Charging Conference (NeTC2018), hosted by ITS Australia, will return to Melbourne from 6-7 June, 2018.
The conference, being held at the Crown Promenade Hotel, is a must-attend event for Australian and global tolling industry executives to openly and freely discuss industry issues.
Global leaders in road pricing will speak at NeTC 2018 Worldwide on CAVs and toll-road trials, and the importance of interoperability from a real-world project in Ireland.
This year delegates will hear presentations from Managing Director, Connect East, Charles Griplas, and VITRONIC Machine Vision Australia, Jonathan Coulson, who will generate discussion around road-user charging, data flows for commercial tolling, and opportunities to deliver solutions for customers.
NeTC 2018 is organised and hosted by ITS Australia and presented by the tolling industry, for the tolling and road technology industry.
Australia is a world leader in tolling and has undertaken considerable work on new models of transport pricing across the road network.
The business opportunities are impossible to predict, but demand for infrastructure and software to support a likely growth in demand for trips creates opportunities for business as well as for government.
The Smart Transport for Australia Report developed from the ITS World Congress 2016 Melbourne reports that road pricing covering all modes, including freight, together with eventual integration with public transport pricing, will optimise the use of resources, improve economic outcomes, and reduce congestion waste.
This will deliver equity, a fairer charging system for road use and a more sustainable revenue raising system than the present taxing regime.
The wealth of information that is now available through big data will allow better and more explicit decisions about public transport pricing, and relative pricing across modes to be explored, along with work to develop sufficient public acceptance of the merits of change.
This year’s theme, Tolling and Beyond, NeTC 2018 has grown from the National electronic Tolling Committee who focus on a collaborative approach to improving transportation in Australia and creating global partnerships.
Attendees at the NeTC 2018 conference will explore emerging trends, new technologies and the challenges facing global tolling and road-user charging.
Presentation topics include emerging and disruptive tolling technology, case studies and current projects, international tolling and road user trends, customer and user Experience, changing behaviour of road users, payment Innovations, compliance, enforcement, disputes, data analytics, data sharing, road user charging and smart city trends, asset management and more.
