Denmark Link Road proposal released to the public

The New South Wales Roads and Maritime Services have released to the public a consultation report for a proposed upgrade to the Denmark Link Road.

A Roads and Maritime spokesperson said 18 responses were received on the proposal, which formed part of Roads and Maritime Services North West Growth Centre Road Network Strategy.

“After considering all responses, Roads and Maritime has decided to progress the design and environmental assessment,” the spokesperson said.

“The Riverstone area is a rapidly developing part of the North West Priority Land Release Area. The expected increases in population and business activity will mean growing issues with traffic and congestion unless work is done to relieve the pressure.”

The Roads and Maritime Services said the Denmark Link Road would ease congestion and improve traffic flow by allowing light vehicles to avoid Riverstone Town Centre by an alternative connection to the Westminster Street Bridge.

“The preferred option provides a new right-turn bay along Garfield Road West for traffic waiting to enter Denmark Road at Riverstone, improvements to the existing Denmark Road, a new link road between Denmark Road and West Parade, new intersections at Carlton Street and West Parade, and an extension of West Parade to connect near the Westminster Street Bridge at Schofields.”

The community was invited to comment on the proposed Denmark Link Road and a report summarising feedback and responses is available on the Roads and Maritime website.

“A concept design will now be developed and environmental assessment carried out as planning for the link road progresses.”

The local community and businesses will have a further opportunity to provide feedback during the display of the concept design and a review of environmental factors.
