AusNet Services will undertake large-scale maintenance works in East Gippsland, to prepare for  an extended fire season expected over summer. The weekend shutdowns will provide 200 lines people with safe access to replace approximately 90 power poles, 80 cross arms and another 390 maintenance items as part of the safety enhancement program.

Derek Walton, AusNet Services Customer Support Manager in Gippsland, said all measures have been taken to limit the electricity disruptions to residents and businesses as the network is prepared for the bushfire season.

“We’ve been working closely with the East Gippsland community in planning these important power outages. Crews from across our entire network will help complete the work in two days.

“Condensing the work into one weekend means customers reliant on these power lines won’t be inconvenienced by weeks of ongoing outages to complete the necessary work before the bushfire and tourism season begins,” Mr Walton said.
