Development Victoria has called for expressions of interest (EOIs) for housing associations and developers who can deliver affordable or social housing in Melbourne’s inner north.

The organisation will collaborate with community housing associations to sell and develop the site at 541 Sydney Road, Coburg.

The EOI closes on Friday 29 March at 3pm AEDT.

The site is owned by Development Victoria, who is managing the EOI to ensure an appropriate mix of affordable or social housing, as well as retail or commercial space.

The development supports the State Government’s policy of improving housing affordability, access and choice for Victorians.

The site on Sydney Road is ideally located with strong links to jobs, public transport, local shops, schools and other community services.

It is also zoned ‘Activity Centre’ which allows for, and encourages, affordable housing, car-free transport and integrated mixed-use development.

This project will increase the availability of affordable housing in Melbourne’s inner northern suburbs, and Development Victoria is committed to ensuring it meets the needs of the local community while also providing much-needed affordable or social housing.

Development Victoria is a valued partner in the Victorian Government’s infrastructure program, delivering projects that increase housing diversity, create cultural and recreational facilities, and activate urban and regional precincts.
