Expressions of Interest (EOI) to prequalified industry groups have been released for major works on the Regency Road to Pym Street Project, which is the next step in the SA’s North-South Corridor.
Once tenderers provide responses to the call, submissions will be evaluated, with two shortlisted tenderers invited by late February 2019 to submit an offer on the project as part of the next stage of the procurement.
SA Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Local Government, Stephan Knoll announced the release of the EOI, which marks an important milestone in the delivery of this $354 million project.
“This crucial project will complete a continuous 47km non-stop section of the North-South Corridor between Gawler and the River Torrens,” Mr Knoll said.
“It will link the operational Torrens Road to River Torrens lowered motorway to the South Road Superway.
“This project is an important part of the $11.3 billion infrastructure pipeline the Marshall Government announced in the State Budget, which will support thousands of local jobs.
“This section of the six-lane non-stop motorway is expected to achieve travel time savings of up to eight minutes during peak periods and will avoid north-south delays at two signalised intersections.
“Not only will the project help travel times for commuters but will also provide access to the surrounding community and local businesses.”
Mr Knoll said improvements for pedestrians and cyclists will also form a critical part of the project, and motorists will have full access to and from the non-stop motorway at Regency Road.
“It will also allow more efficient access to and from key freight areas of the National Land Transport Network, the Port of Adelaide, the industrial north-west sector of Adelaide and Adelaide Airport.
“This project will also provide jobs and new employment opportunities for the State and will support approximately 210 full time equivalent jobs per year, over the life of the project.
“The Marshall Government is committed to working with the local community including businesses to minimise impacts resulting from construction activities, with the consultation process already underway.”
The Australian and South Australian governments have committed $354 million to construct the Regency Road to Pym Street Project.
