The final visualisations for the Euroa station project have been released by Inland Rail, revealing a modern station and vehicle underpass that will transform the precinct.
The visualisations showcase a bright station with a leafy forecourt opening to the centre of town, a new station platform, two accessible pedestrian underpasses, carparks and green spaces.
Inland Rail is modifying the Euroa station and constructing a new vehicle underpass to provide sufficient clearance for double-stacked freight trains.
Euroa residents have played an important role in the design and development of the project, and the final design incorporates their most recent feedback.
The final Euroa design:
- Adds more trees and seating within the station forecourt
- Changes the Railway Street carpark layout, to add more green space without losing parking spaces
- Integrates the Euroa goods shed stone foundations in garden beds and retaining walls
- Adds a new footpath at Anderson Street, connecting Nelson and Hinton streets
Construction at Euroa is progressing with the Anderson Street bridge removed, the Handbury Street pedestrian underpass demolished, and work set to commence on the new pedestrian and vehicle underpasses, new station platform and lift shafts.
Early construction works will focus on the new platform, new west track and carpark on the Elliot Street side of the station, before work begins on the pedestrian and vehicle underpasses, station forecourt and carpark on the Railway Street side.
Pedestrian paths across the rail corridor will change during construction, and the community will be informed in advance.
Inland Rail Acting Delivery Director Beveridge to Albury, Scott Anderson, said that the final visualisations highlight the incredible transformation that will take place at Euroa.
“We’ve worked closely with the community over many years, and their important contributions are included in the final design,” Anderson said.
“The project includes two new modern, bright and accessible underpasses with ramps, lifts and stairs to make it safer for travellers and pedestrians.
“We would like to thank the community for their patience and cooperation as we carry out the exciting upgrade of the station precinct.”
