The Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) has appointed Kris Fumberger as its new Executive Director of Product Solutions, marking a significant step in its push to digitise and expand the IS Rating Scheme.
Fumberger will begin the role on 1 July 2025. The new executive-level position has been created to advance ISC’s infrastructure sustainability ratings and lead the organisation’s digital transformation.
Fumberger joins ISC from global consultancy Ricardo, bringing more than two decades of leadership in sustainability, ESG advisory and digital product innovation.
His previous roles include senior positions at RightShip and ANZ Bank, where he helped develop climate tools and decarbonisation strategies tailored to infrastructure, water, and energy sectors.
At RightShip, he oversaw the development of the widely adopted GHG Rating and Maritime Emissions Portal, which provide ESG benchmarks for the shipping industry. The GHG Rating portal is now used by over 180 global entities and bears similarities to ISC’s own IS Rating Scheme in its sustainability assessment approach.
More recently, at Ricardo, he supported climate disclosures in alignment with global standards such as the TCFD and ISSB, while guiding infrastructure clients on ESG risks and opportunities. At ANZ, he contributed to sectoral decarbonisation pathways relevant to finance and infrastructure.
Toby Kent, CEO of ISC, welcomed the appointment, calling it a pivotal move in the council’s evolution.
“This is a critical appointment for the ISC at a pivotal moment in our organisation’s evolution,” Kent said.
“I am delighted that we have secured someone with Kris’s experience and pedigree to drive the enhancements to our offerings that we need to bring to market. Kris is both commercially minded and personable and I think our members and team will respond really well to his leadership.”
Jeremy Stone, ISC’s Deputy Chair, said the appointment reflects a broader transformation underway at the council.
“ISC has much to be proud of and a terrific legacy to build on,” he said.
“The appointment of Kris, in particular, and other changes at ISC are setting us up for a really strong future.”
Fumberger said he was drawn to ISC’s industry role and potential for digital innovation.
“What excites me most about this opportunity is ISC’s influence in shaping infrastructure outcomes that align with global sustainability goals,” he said.
“I see immense potential in further digitising and scaling the IS Rating Scheme, drawing on my experience in product leadership and stakeholder engagement to unlock new insights from data, develop complementary offerings, and enhance member value.”
