The NSW Government has committed an additional $25 million in the 2026-27 State Budget to progress planning for the future Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital.

The funding will support site investigations, design work and project scoping as planning continues for a future hospital designed to meet the region’s growing healthcare needs.

The investment follows a $25 million commitment in 2023 to upgrade the existing Blue Mountains Hospital, bringing the Government’s total investment in the project to $50 million.

Upgrade works at the existing hospital are expected to be completed later this year and include improvements to the emergency department, ambulatory care, maternity, mental health and inpatient areas, along with infrastructure upgrades such as roof repairs, air conditioning systems and a new lift.

The works have been prioritised in consultation with hospital staff and clinicians to improve service delivery while minimising disruption to patients and visitors.

NSW Minister for Health, Ryan Park, said the latest funding would help shape the future of healthcare in the Blue Mountains.

“We are committed to improving health facilities and services for communities across the Blue Mountains, now and into the future,” Park said.

“This is an important investment, which doubles our contribution to $50 million, and reflects our ongoing commitment to improve health services and progress planning for a future hospital in the Blue Mountains.”

Member for the Blue Mountains, Trish Doyle, said the funding would support both immediate improvements and long-term planning for the region’s health services.

“This is an important project for our staff, patients and the local community, and I’m pleased to deliver this significant funding boost to support further improvements to the health service and planning for a future hospital in the Blue Mountains,” Doyle said.
