GeelongPort has published its second annual Sustainability Report, outlining its practices and performance as the port works towards becoming an industry leader for sustainability.

The report, completed in accordance with GRI Standards, provides a deep dive into the environmental, social and governance (ESG) activity taking place at GeelongPort, as the port works towards its aspiration of becoming Australia’s most sustainable port.

GeelongPort’s sustainability highlights from the 2023 report included recognition as a sector leader in the GRESB Infrastructure Asset Benchmark, the first sailing of Spirit of Tasmania into GeelongPort, the completion of its Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan, and meeting its Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions target via the Barwon Renewable Energy Partnership Power Purchase Agreement.

GeelongPort CEO, Brett Winter, said he is proud of the work the entire GeelongPort team is doing in the sustainability space.

“GeelongPort takes its environmental, social and governance responsibility very seriously and has developed strategies, policies and frameworks to support our goal of leading in this area,” Mr Winter said.

“It’s important that we continually monitor our sustainability performance and that we remain clear and transparent with our ESG successes and gaps that might need addressing, not only for our business, but for the community and our broader stakeholders.”
