i-TRACE has awarded its Leadership Award, acknowledging the lead role the winning organisation has played in implementing i-TRACE in the Australasian rail industry.
V/Line gladly accepted the award at the GS1 Nexus 2019 conference in Melbourne this May.
Project i-TRACE is a whole of rail industry initiative which involves standardising the capture of data relating to all assets and materials in the rail industry, and in so doing, ensuring there is a strong foundation upon which the rail industry can build its digital capabilities.
V-Line has been an industry-leader in adopting and implementing i-TRACE in its supply chain processes to help achieve improved productivity outcomes, lower costs and improved customer service.
The award was accepted by V/Line’s Manager of Asset Reliability & Performance, Michael Mowat, who was also a foundation member of the ARA/GS1 i-TRACE Working Group.
“I would like to thank the ARA and GS1 as well as my counterparts from Sydney Trains and MTM who we collaborated with in developing the standard to suit the needs of the rail industry,” Mr Mowat said.
“I would also like to acknowledge and thank AusIndustry for their exceptional and ongoing work helping us implement the industry requirements with many of our suppliers.
“Adopting a standardised approach to asset identification and driving internal and external implementation was just one part of the significant supply chain transformation V/Line has undertaken. However, this part has been fundamental in allowing us to further modernise and streamline the way we operate within our organisation,”
ARA CEO, Danny Broad, congratulated Mr Mowat and V/Line on the achievement.
“We are delighted to see the success V/Line is having with this hugely beneficial project, and commend V/Line on its commitment to implement global data standards in their processes.” Mr Broad said.
GS1 CEO and Executive Director, Maria Palazzolo, said, “Using a common, standards-based approach to identify and mark materials is critical across a range of areas in the rail industry.
“I congratulate V/Line on its commitment to implementing i-TRACE in its business and look forward to it building its digital capabilities by achieving more consistent object identification.”
ARA and GS1 have called on the rail industry to “Get on board” project i-TRACE and to make 2019 the year of implementation in their businesses and supply processes and will continue to work with industry and government to support its rapid adoption in 2019.
