Like the majority of states across Australia, Tasmania is currently experiencing a major boom in the number of cruise ships visiting its ports, with a 64 per cent  increase in dockings over the past year.

In light of the increased demand, Tasmanian Ports Corporation (TasPorts) has made a significant investment in infrastructure upgrades across Tasmania to improve the berthing capacity for cruise ships.

Ahead of Cruise Ship Infrastructure 2018, we caught up with Kevin Moore, General Manager Customer Management at Tasmanian Ports Corporation, to find out the vision for the Hobart and Burnie Ports Expansion projects, and how the redevelopments are set to increase capacity, improve economic outcomes and enhance the passenger experience across Tasmanian Ports.

Case study: The Hobart and Burnie Ports Expansion Project: Improving Cruise Infrastructure Capacity in a Competitive Market.

In the case study, Kevin goes into depth about:

  • The vision and masterplan for the expansion of four main ports in Tasmania
  • The unique design elements set to transform capacity and passenger experience
  • Stakeholder engagement strategies to ensure project success and remain competitive in a changing market
  • Lessons learned from TasPort’s redevelopment of Hobart and Burnie Ports to date

If you’re interested in hearing more from Kevin and TasPorts, then join him at the Cruise Ship Infrastructure Summit 2018, to be held on  1-2 March 2018 at Novotel Sydney Central.

The Cruise Ship Infrastructure Summit brings together 15 Australian Ports and Cruise Ship Tourism experts from the likes of Southern Ports Authority, Gladstone Ports Corporation, Cruise Eden, Royal Caribbean International, Gold Coast Council and many more.

Don’t miss this opportunity to meet and network with cruise port professionals from various industries, and learn strategies to manage the initial planning stages of port infrastructure and engage with all stakeholders to create a desirable tourist destination.
