Inland Rail has announced that it is seeking tender submissions for the supply and installation of noise mitigation treatments to approximately 40 residential properties between Narrabri and North Star.

These works will mean that any operational noise impacts from Inland Rail will be mitigated in line with the required guidelines.

Works may include:

  • Replacing existing glazed sliding windows and doors with acoustic-rated alternatives
  • Installing treatments to existing windows and doors
  • Supplying and installing ceiling fans and air ventilation systems
  • Removing, sealing, and replacing wall vents
  • General building works

Tenders will be assessed against considerations such as experience, capability, capacity, relevant licences, approach, timeframes, safety, commercial terms and cost.

Inland Rail Project Director Narrabri to North Star, Peter Borrelli, said that Inland Rail is committed to working with impacted residents to deliver appropriate noise mitigation measures where needed.

“Through the Narrabri to North Star Phase 1 project, Inland Rail has engaged 137 local businesses providing services including office fit out, accommodation and catering, workforce training, equipment supply, earthworks, signage, waste services, hardware supplies, plant and equipment hire, electrical and plumbing services, and fencing,” Mr Borrelli said.

“The construction of Narrabri to North Star Phase 1 provided jobs for nearly 700 local residents representing over 30 per cent of the total workforce on the project, with nearly 200 local workers coming from First Nations communities.

“Inland Rail will continue to work with local suppliers and residents as Phase 2 of the Narrabri to North Star project progresses through government approvals.”
