Western Sydney Airport has awarded a joint venture the contract to deliver its Early Earthworks Package.

Lendlease’s joint venture with CPB Contractors has been awarded the Early Earthworks Package which will see the start of construction work before the end of 2018.

The Early Earthworks package will involve moving more than 1.8 million cubic metres of earth as well as road and drainage works, including realigning Badgerys Creek Road.

Craig Laslett, CEO Engineering & Services, said, “The new airport will supercharge the growth of greater Sydney by attracting new businesses and supporting thousands of jobs in this area, which is already one of Australia’s most dynamic regions and home to one of the nation’s youngest and most culturally-diverse populations.

“Lendlease has a long history working and contributing to Western Sydney, many of our people call it home, and we see this as fundamentally a great fit for our business.

“This project will also allow us to extend our efforts to provide skilling, training and employment opportunities in Western Sydney where we have assisted nearly 5,000 people into employment through our regional skilling and employment centres.”

Current infrastructure projects in the region include The Northern Road Upgrade, the Western Sydney Stadium and M7 maintenance.
