2020 is shaping up to be a big year for Victoria’s Level Crossing Removal Project, with major developments in sight for Carrum Station, Merinda Station and a new bridge at Eumemmerring Creek.
The new Carrum Station is set to open on 17 February 2020, aiming to create safer and easier access to public transport, local shops and the beach with entrances at McLeod Road and Walkers Road.
Locals will be able to access to the station from the Walkers Road entrance at a new pedestrian connection across Station Street.
Works will continue on ground floor buildings, the station car park and landscaping until mid 2020.
Concept designs for the new Merinda Park Station and initial plans for a steel truss bridge at Eumemmerring Creek have also been recently released.
The complete rebuild of Merinda Park Station will include two platforms and modern facilities.
The concept designs for the new station feature better weather protection and a new direct entry point from the eastern side of the tracks.
A new pedestrian underpass is planned to link both sides of the station, allowing the existing pedestrian level crossing to be removed, while the main station entrance will also be moved to a more central location.
Early works on the new station are expected to start in 2020, coinciding with track duplication works between Dandenong and Cranbourne. Both will be completed in 2023.

Meanwhile, engineers and designers have completed initial plans for a steel truss bridge designed to span over Eumemmerring Creek.
The bridge will support a second train track running over the creek and is part of works to fully duplicate the Cranbourne Line.
Protecting the creek’s ecosystem has been a major focus for engineers working through design options for the Eumemmerring Creek site, located in Dandenong South.
The proposed design means no foundations or pillars need to be dug into the waterway, and no modifications need to be made to the existing single-track bridge at Eumemmerring Creek.
The new, duplicated bridge will be constructed to the west side of the current bridge.
Works at Eumemmerring Creek will start in 2020, as part of the Cranbourne Line Upgrade.
