Applications are now open for the 2025 RISE Leadership Mentoring Program, a cross-sector initiative helping develop future leaders in infrastructure sustainability.
Established by the Infrastructure Sustainability Council in 2022, the nine-month program connects early to mid-career professionals with experienced mentors from across the infrastructure, construction, engineering and sustainability sectors. It is designed to support career development, foster diversity, and build leadership capability across the industry.
With structured support including webinars, peer networking and a dedicated program manager, RISE has already connected more than 130 professionals across Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and the UK.
Mentees report clearer career direction, stronger communication skills and increased confidence, while mentors benefit from fresh perspectives and the chance to support emerging talent.
“There are plenty of great people in these programs and as a mentor sometimes I think we see it as ‘giving back’ – but you gain so much from it I think the ledger is pretty even,” said Byron Davy of Arch Services.
In 2024, the program launched a targeted initiative – Women in Sustainable Construction (WiSC) – to attract and retain women in the construction industry, backed by the NSW Government.
The WiSC stream positions sustainability as a rewarding and future-focused career pathway, addressing critical skills and gender gaps in the sector.
Applications for the RISE 2025 intake close on Friday 9 May.
