The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) has announced the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors as well as the re-election of another director.
Rebecca Dickson, Fiona Doherty and Alison Price have been appointed to the board and Helen Badger has been re-elected for another two-year term.
Ms Dickson has worked with NAWIC since 2010. She has held various positions including the Victorian Chapter’s Education Committee Chair, Board Director representing Victoria, and Company Secretary. From 2015 to 2017, Ms Dickson held the position of Chapter President for Victoria. In addition, Ms Dickson brings over 12 years’ experience as a construction lawyer.
Ms Doherty has been involved with NAWIC’s ACT Chapter since 2008. She was the Chapter’s Treasurer from 2008 to 2011 and was a Board Director representing ACT in 2011. Ms Doherty has again held the Chapter Treasurer role since 2015, and has been pivotal in the Chapter’s growth from both a sponsorship and member benefit perspective. Ms Doherty also brings extensive operational experience gained as a Board member for various not-for-profit Organisations.
For the last three years, Ms Price has been the President of NAWIC’s Queensland Chapter. Prior to this, she held the position of Chapter Secretary. Ms Price’s achievements during her time as President of the Queensland Chapter include finalisation of the NAWIC Northern Territory Chapter, as well as the establishment of the “Women on Tools” Committee. Ms Price is also Managing Director of her own successful business within the construction industry.
Helen Badger, NAWIC’s outgoing National Chairperson, joined NAWIC in 2008 and held various positions within the ACT Chapter, including President and Board Director. For the past two years, Ms Badger has been NAWIC’s National Chairperson. Professionally, she is the Operations Manager of Australia’s largest civil infrastructure project in Papua New Guinea, and has been a member of various boards for the past five years.
Ms Badger said the mix of the new members’ expertise and experience in their chosen fields within the construction industry will bring immense value to the Board.
“Rebecca, Fiona and Alison have long been associated with NAWIC, having held various roles at their respective Chapter levels,” Ms Badger said.
“We have no doubt they will be tremendous assets to the Board as we further NAWIC’s mission to be the advocate organisation for women in the construction industry.”
The NAWIC Board also thanked outgoing members Catherine Hart and Hayley Cassidy.
“We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Catherine and Hayley for their service, insights and contribution over the past two years.
“We wish them well in all their future endeavours. In addition, we would like to thank our outgoing Chairperson, Helen Badger, for her leadership and dedication to the role.”
The NAWIC Board wishes its new Board members the very best of luck with their new appointments.
The Board said it looked forward to announcing its National Chairperson and Vice National Chairperson in 2019.
