The Federal Government has appointed a new Deputy Chair and Non-Executive Director of the Western Sydney Airport Corporation Board.
Mike Mrdak AO has been appointed as the Deputy Chair and Amanda McMillan OBE as a Non‑Executive Director, each for an initial three-year term.
The appointments of Mr Mrdak and Ms McMillan followed a publicly advertised, merit‑based recruitment process.
Mr Mrdak brings considerable skills to the board, with extensive knowledge of the aviation sector, airport economics and regulation, as well as experience in senior levels of public administration.
He is the current Chair of the Airport Development Group, a Non-Executive Director of NBN Co, former Secretary of the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development, and former Chair of NEC Australia.
Ms McMillan has strong executive and non-executive experience in airport operations, and her knowledge and commercial acumen will make her appointment an important addition to the board.
She is a current Non-Executive Director of Perth Airport and Queensland Airports, is a former CEO of AGS Airports, and former Managing Director of Glasgow Airport.
Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Minister, Catherine King, said, “The appointment of Mr Mrdak and Ms McMillan will provide the Western Sydney Airport Corporation Board with important skills and ensure continuity of leadership while the airport transitions from construction to operations.
“I would like to thank the outgoing Non-Executive Directors, Ms Christine Spring and Mr Vincent Graham AM, for their dedicated service to the board.”
Finance Minister, Katy Gallagher, said, “This is a crucial time for the airport, and having the right leadership team in place now will ensure its sustained success long into the future.
“I welcome the appointments of Mr Mrdak and Ms McMillan and I’m sure they’ll be a great asset to the airport as it pivots to operational status.”
