The Spatial Industries Business Association (SIBA) has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer, following a recent merger with the Geospatial Information and Technology Association (GITA).
Ms Deanna Hutchinson was appointed to the position. Ms Hutchinson has a background in emerging technology, including several years in the public sector followed by a decade in private enterprise where she led software development and consulting services to resources, health, defence and manufacturing clients.
Ms Hutchinson holds tertiary qualifications in business and has worked extensively with industry associations supporting technology-driven change. Ms Hutchinson was previously the Congress Executive of the Australian Simulation Congress and Editor of Simpublica magazine.
SIBA Chair Mr Alistair Byrom said, “Ms Hutchinson brings additional wealth of experience to SIBA at this important stage of our development and, given her credentials, I am confident she will make a significant contribution to the role and the existing executive team.
“Ms Hutchinson will join our existing Executive Director Kellee Ireland to implement a number of key recommendations made by board following the recent merge with GITA ANZ.”
Ms Hutchinson said, “The board is to be commended for implementing a range of reforms and innovative initiatives in recent years, and they recognise that considerable challenges lie ahead in navigating significant disruption in the industry.
“I am looking forward to completing the transition of SIBA to a unified national member organisation as we enter a most exciting time for spatial businesses.”
