A new Chief Executive Officer has been appointed for the Tasmanian Ports Corporation (Tasports).
Anthony Donald has been acting in the position since September 2018, and will begin as CEO immediately.
Chairman, Stephen Bradford, said, “Mr Donald is highly experienced in the maritime sector, as well as transport and logistics, and has done an excellent job as the Acting CEO.
“Prior to working in the Acting CEO role, he was the organisation’s Chief Operating Officer and prior to that ran his own consultancy business. He has also held senior executive positions at the Port of Melbourne and Melbourne Airport.”
Mr Bradford said the appointment of an appropriately qualified CEO to take the organisation forward was a critical decision for the Board.
“The Board is confident that Mr Donald’s management style and skills, on top of his relevant industry experience, are important attributes that will assist him in the role.”
Tasmanian Minister for Infrastructure, Jeremy Rockliff, welcomed the announcement on behalf of the State Government.
“The ongoing development of our ports is critical to meeting future import and export demand in Tasmania,” Mr Rockliff said.
Mr Donald said he was very pleased to be given the opportunity to continue the work he started as Acting CEO.
“Tasmania and its many and varied businesses have enormous potential,” he said.
“TasPorts — which is responsible for 99 per cent of the state’s freight task — clearly has a key role to assist these businesses to meet that potential.
“The implementation of our port master plan — an investment of more than $200 million in infrastructure over the next 15 years — is also a critical piece of work that I am very much looking forward to playing a part in.”
