The Western Australian Minister for Ports, Stephen Dawson, has announced the appointment of Mellisa Teede as Chair of the Kimberley Ports Authority (KPA), effective from 1 July 2026.
Teede has been appointed for a two-year term, succeeding Reece Waldock, who is retiring after serving as Chair since 2019.
Having joined the KPA Board in July 2025, Teede brings extensive experience as a senior executive and director across the public sector, including leadership roles with Western Australian regional development commissions.
Broome-based Nyamba Buru Yawuru Deputy CEO, Taliah Payne, has also been appointed to the Board, joining existing members Paul Larsen, Magued Moftah and Liz Buckey.
KPA manages the ports of Broome, Derby, Wyndham and Yampi Sound, supporting trade and economic activity across the Kimberley region.
“I congratulate Mellisa and welcome her as Chair of Kimberley Ports Authority,” Dawson said.
“I look forward to working closely with Mellisa as Kimberley Ports continues on its journey towards development of the Ports of Broome, Derby and Wyndham, building on the State Government’s investments in First Point of Entry infrastructure that will unlock economic growth for the Kimberley region.”
Dawson also acknowledged the contribution of outgoing Chair Reece Waldock.
“I would also like to recognise outgoing Chair Reece Waldock, who has provided outstanding leadership through a period of great change and development for all the ports of the Kimberley over his seven-year term.”
