A new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has been appointed to the Port of Melbourne following the departure of current CEO, Nick Easy.

The Lonsdale Consortium appointed Brendan Bourke to the position, who will begin in the role from the financial close of the 50-year lease transaction with the Victorian Government (expected to be 31 October 2016).

The Lonsdale Consortium successfully acquired the lease of the Port of Melbourne in September 2016.

Mr Bourke, whose corporate career spans more than 35 years, brings a wealth of infrastructure expertise and was previously the CEO of Queensland Motorways where he oversaw the successful transition of the business from government to private ownership.

Mr Bourke was also the former Chief Operating Officer of Transurban Group, with responsibilities including serving as CEO of CityLink Melbourne for almost nine years.

Mr Bourke said, “As Australia’s largest container, automotive and general cargo port, the Port of Melbourne is a truly landmark asset and I am delighted to be joining as CEO at this exciting time in the Port of Melbourne’s proud history.

“I look forward to leading the organisation and working with all stakeholders to ensure the Port upholds its track record of providing world class facilities and services to industry and being a responsible neighbour within the community.”

The Lonsdale Consortium extended its thanks to the outgoing CEO, Mr Easy, for the role he had played in the evolution of the Port of Melbourne and wished him well in the next stage in his career.
