Works on the Martin Place Metro Station are now 95 per cent complete meaning Sydney passengers will soon have access to a fully integrated transport destination that will provide metro services beyond Chatswood, through the CBD and out to Sydenham.

The final stage of construction has seen the two station entrances evolve and take shape, the direct connection to the existing Martin Place train station completed and the first portion of Martin Place plaza reopened.

A 40m-high atrium is being unveiled as hoarding is coming down and temporary covers are being removed.

A collection of eight brand-new artworks will be housed in the grand station, with seven of the artworks now in place. One of the artworks ‘Continuum’ by artist Mikala Dwyer includes a giant steel sculpture suspended from the ceiling in the northern public foyer opening to Castlereagh, Hunter and Elizabeth streets.

Finishing touches are also being made to two commercial towers that rise above the two station entrances and will also open later in 2024.

Martin Place plaza is due to completely reopen for the first time in almost three and a half years once the final artwork has been installed and public domain works have been completed.

Once finished, Martin Place Metro Station will provide Northwest commuters with a direct rail connection to the commercial and financial hub of the city for the first time. Commuters will be able to access nearby retail zones and cultural institutions like the State Library, Domain and Royal Botanic Garden.
