The Victorian Government has introduced legislation to establish a new transport agency that will coordinate the state’s road and public transport system.

The new agency, Transport for Victoria (TfV), will bring together the planning, management and coordination of Victoria’s transport system, including VicRoads and Public Transport Victoria.

To support the number of people using Victorian road and public transport systems, the Victorian Government is also delivering the biggest pipeline of major transport projects in the state’s history, including the Metro Tunnel, Western Distributor, 50 level crossing removals and many others.

TfV will coordinate services while this unprecedented infrastructure program is delivered, and provide a single source of information for transport users to make it easier for people to plan their journey.

The legislation also transfers V/Line’s operations – currently controlled by a proprietary limited company – to V/Line Corporation.
