The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has appointed a new Chief Commissioner, with more than 30 years experience in the aviation sector.
Greg Hood will commence in the role of Chief Commissioner on 1 July, for a five year term.
Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Darren Chester said Mr Hood will bring extensive experience and leadership skills to the role.
“Mr Hood has over 30 years’ experience in the transport sector, most recently as Executive General Manager Air Traffic Control at Airservices Australia, which is responsible for managing 11 per cent of the world’s airspace,” Mr Chester said.
“Previously, Mr Hood held several senior management positions in the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), the national aviation safety regulator, including Executive Manager of the Operations Division.
“This appointment will enable the ATSB to continue to perform its vital role as the national transport safety investigator to the high standards expected by Australians.”
Mr Chester also acknowledged previous Chief Commissioner Martin Dolan who spent seven years in the role.
“I would like to thank Martin Dolan for the leadership he has provided to the ATSB over the past seven years as Chief Commissioner, a period coinciding with strong growth and increasing diversity in the transport sector,” Mr Chester said.
