The details of a $358 million integrated transport solution project for Perth Stadium have been released with the project ensuring the safe and efficient movement of 50,000 to and from the new stadium.

The details of the rail, bus and pedestrian strategy were released via video and includes a new a new six-platform Perth Stadium Station to replace Belmont Station, a new pedestrian bridge at Swan River, and modifications to Victoria Park Drive.

Furthermore, special event bus stands will be put in place at the stadium and Nelson Avenue, in East Perth, and Camfield drive will be extended to the Perth Stadium and sports precinct.

The integrated solution is expected to move 83 per cent of a full capacity crowd within one hour of an event finishing.

Construction of the transport infrastructure will create up to 1,350 direct jobs, with the station expected to be completed in mid-2017 to allow for extensive testing and commissioning before opening with the Perth Stadium in 2018.

Western Australian Transport Minister, Bill Marmion, said, “This shows how easy it will be for people to catch public transport, walk, catch a coach or on-demand transport to where the action is,” Mr Marmion said.

“The video will help people keen to attend events at the new Perth Stadium plan their journeys ahead of time, and ensure they pick the travel option which best suits them.

“Great experiences are as much about the journey as the destination, and that’s something we’ve taken into account when developing the travel options.

“Whether it’s a picturesque walk across the Swan River pedestrian bridge, a cycle through the lush native gardens surrounding the Perth Stadium, or a relaxed trip on the train to the landmark Perth Stadium Station, there is an option to suit everyone.”

Mr Marmion said the Stadium station alone will have capacity to move about 28,000 patrons in the first hour after an event with the integrated transport solution expected.
