The Victorian Government has announced the new team that will lead and deliver the biggest infrastructure program Victoria has ever seen.
To ensure this program is delivered, Jacinta Allan takes on the portfolio of Transport Infrastructure, with responsibility for projects including the Level Crossing Removal Program, North East Link, West Gate Tunnel, Metro Tunnel and Suburban Rail Loop.
Ms Allan leads an all-female transport team, with Jaala Pulford becoming the Minister for Roads, Road Safety and the TAC, and Minister for Fishing and Boating.
New Cabinet member Melissa Horne will become Minister for Public Transport, and Ports and Freight.
The State Governments record infrastructure investment means more jobs for Victorians, as well as new and growing industries. It also means more Victorians need to be trained to give them the skills they need, for the jobs they want.
Roads Australia Director, David Stuart-Watt, welcomed the new appointments to the roads and transport infrastructure portfolios, as well as the Premier’s strong statement on diversity.
“With Victoria in the middle of a transport infrastructure construction boom, it makes sense to have the coordination and delivery of our major projects answerable to one minister,” said Mr Stuart-Watt.
“Jacinta is one of the most experienced ministers in Cabinet, and we look forward to working with her to ensure Victoria gets the best return on its transport infrastructure investment.
“We also welcome and look forward to working with Jaala Pulford in the roads and road safety portfolios, and Melissa Horne in the public transport, ports and freight portfolios.”
