Port of Newcastle CEO, Geoff Crowe, has resigned, effective at the end of June.

Geoff joined Port of Newcastle in July 2015 with extensive experience in the coal mining and logistics industry. He led the development of the Port’s growth and diversification strategy, including the development of plans for a cruise terminal, bulk terminal and a container terminal.

“The Port of Newcastle is not only an iconic port that delivers huge economic value to our region and state as a trade gateway, it is also a valued asset for our industry and our community,” said Mr Crowe.

“We have a terrific team, and I am very proud of the contribution that we have made in the last three years for the Port and our region. As a Novocastrian, I will continue to take pride in the Port’s growth.”

Ports Australia CEO, Mike Gallacher, said that the people of Newcastle, the Hunter and its surrounds have all benefited from Mr Crowe’s leadership at the Port.

“Geoff is a great leader and individual, he loves the Port of Newcastle and he loves the city of Newcastle. Through Geoff’s efforts both the port and the city are in strong positions,” Mr Gallacher said.

“Geoff has successfully led the Port of Newcastle during its transition from a state-owned port to the world’s most successful privately owned coal port, an incredible achievement.”

“On behalf of Ports Australia’s membership and its Board, I would like to recognise Geoff’s contributions to the sector and this organisation. We wish him luck and look forward to working with him again.”
