The contract for the Northern Territory Litchfield National Park stage 1 development works has been awarded.
Aldebaran Contracting has been awarded the tender for stage 1 of the Litchfield Central Valley development, which will see the construction of 18km of unsealed road and tracks suitable for 4WD vehicles.
The tracks will lead the way for stage 2 works, which will open up five new swimming spots to the public, with new campgrounds, trails, picnic areas, car parking and viewing platforms.
Stage 1 works will begin in September and are due for completion in early 2020.
This investment will allow the park to cope with the increasing demand for tourism experiences while improving overcrowding issues that occur during the peak tourism period (May-October).
NT Minister for Tourism, Sport and Culture, Lauren Moss, said, “With road works being fast-tracked, we are one step closer to opening up new camping grounds, swimming spots, 4WD tracks and picnic areas, while supporting local jobs.”
